Much of Massachusetts is under an air quality alert as smoke has traveled into the states from the wildfires occurring in the western part of the country. The concentration of "fine particulates in the air may approach or exceed healthy standards".
This alert was issued by the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection. The alert is in effect until noon, July 27.
Officials state the smoke particles in the air are dangerous for people with health issues, such as asthma or lung disease.
The American Lung Association recommends that people avoid spending time outside until the smoke clears. https://www.wcvb.com/.../air-quality-alert-smoke.../37140917#
